Veneered (Parquetry) Box With Wooden Hinges

My wife "needed" something to store her watercolour notepad and brushes in. By "needed", I insisted I was building something for her and she didn't object.


I stole this design from my buddy BenK from https://www.theperseveranceworks.com This is my first time doing parquetry, which was a lot of fun, and much less intimidating than I thought it'd be - just a little tedious working with small material.


I used two specific tools for the hinges - a regular box joint jig would work fine, but I'm unaware of a DIY version of the HingeCrafter drilling jig.

Marquetry vs Parquetry? Marquetry is 'painting with wood' to create images, while parquetry is geometric shapes.
