The spirit of the African animation industry | Raymond Malinga | TEDxIUEA

Описание к видео The spirit of the African animation industry | Raymond Malinga | TEDxIUEA

When Mr. Malinga dropped out of a computer science degree to pursue a career in animation he would get reactions like 'Are you crazy?' and 'How will you be useful in society?'.

Despite all odds, he travelled to Malaysia to pursue his passion and bring back his skills to Uganda, which has led him to tell exciting African stories with delightful animations (find one hilarious snippet in this talk).

Mr. Raymond Malinga left his 7-month old job in Malaysia to come back to Uganda and set up Creatures Animation Studio, a company that puts their heart into creating animations based on local African stories. One of their short films, 'A Kalabanda ate my homework' went on to win several international awards and nominations including a feature at the Cannes Film Festival.
