ह्यूमिक एसिड पौधा व मिट्टी के पोषण एवं संरचना को बेहतर बनाने की दिशा में काफी कारगर होता है। ह्युमिक एसिड मुख्य रूप से मिट्टी को भुरभुरी बनाता हैं जिससे पौधों के जड़ों का विकास अधिक होता है। इतना ही नहीं, यह एसिड पौधों में प्रकाश संश्लेषण की क्रिया को भी तेज करता है। जिससे पौधों में हरापन आता है और शाखाओं की भरपूर वृद्धि होती है।
ह्युमिक एसिड जैविक पदार्थ जैसे लिग्निएट, पीट एवं मृदा समूह पदार्थो का ही एक सदस्य है। यह एसिड पौधों के अंदर जहां एंजाइम और हार्मोन को उत्तेजित करता है। वहीं पौधों के जड़ श्वसन और द्वितीयक व तृतीयक जड़ों के गठन को बढ़ाकर मजबूत बनाता है।
ह्यूमिक एसिड पौधों की जड़ों और पत्तियों के माध्यम से सूक्ष्म पोषक तत्वों की उपलब्धता को बढ़ाता है। यह पौधों के अंदर विटामिन की मात्रा को बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ मिट्टी का वातन और मिट्टी में जल धारण क्षमता को भी बढ़ाता है।
