You may have heard that vanity metrics aren’t worth looking at – that they’re useless or offer no insight into your business performance. But is it true?

Vanity metrics are metrics that are designed to impress, but aren’t actually indicative of good performance. Some examples of vanity metrics include social media likes , the number of subscribers in your email lists, blog post views, Facebook fans, or the amount of leads in your sales funnel.

These metrics don’t accurately reflect the ‘health’ of your brand. They look good and feel great – having the highest social following in your industry looks good on paper, but it doesn’t mean that you have the highest profit margins in your industry.
