After the Daytona 500 race in february 1969, Chrysler desided to put wing and nosecone on the 1969 Dodge Charger 500, and the first wingcar was born. The test team with Larry Rathgab in charge had a testcar, the DC-93. This is the first Dodge Charger Daytona. Eqipped with instruments in the trunk (Model 417 Magnetic Tape Recorder), they could measure tire temp, engine oil temp, oil pressure, brake pressure, G-force, RPM and more.
The total of 503 Dodge Charger Daytona was assembled by Creative Industries (in 1969).
On sunday September 14, 1969 the first Daytona entered the Nascar season 1969 on the Talladega 500. (race no.44 of 54 i 1969).
Plymouth want something similar, and at a meeting on august 25, 1969 Creative Industries signed an agreement to assemble 1935 Plymouth Superbirds. Richard Petty won 9 of 54 Nascer races with the Ford Torino Talladega in 1969.
In 1970, Richard Petty returned to Plymouth, winning 18 of 48 Nascar races with his brand new 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird.
Bobby Baker became the first to break the 200 mile barrier with the DC-93 Dodge Charger Daytona test car, Tuesday March 24, 1970...with Larry Rathgeb holding the blackboard.

8 from Norway and 3 from Sweden met at the 50th Reunion i USA in 2019. 4 of them were Superbird owners. It was a great experience the four days from Thursday to Sunday, October 10 to October 14, 2019.
