“The Green Transition and ROK-Nordic Cooperation”, a lecture by Yi hyun Kang, PhD. Climate change and environmental policy specialist at Lund University.

Dr. Kang provides an outline of South Korea's environmental goals in this lecture, along with the country's existing recycling and renewable energy legislation. Dr. Kang also identifies areas of present collaboration between South Korea and the Nordic states.  In particular, the Nordic nations' expertise and high percentage of green energy production in their energy mix make them an essential partner for South Korea as the country works towards achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. 

The Institute for Security and Development Policy's Korea Center had the pleasure of hosting four Nordic young professionals as part of its VIP program, the Nordic-Korea Next Generation Training Program, which is generously sponsored by the Korea Foundation.

We decided to record three of the participants' many lectures in order to share them with the wider public. With the project's ultimate goal of inspiring young people in the Nordics to focus their research on contemporary issues pertinent to the Korean Peninsula, we hope that by sharing the three lectures, young people from all over the world would be equally inspired as our four participants.
