Dean and Dr. Lori Bergen spoke to Boulder Rotary Club on Friday February 7th, 2025 about Communication, Media, Design and Information.

Dr. Lori Bergen is the founding dean of the College of Media, Communication and Information and James E. de Castro Chair in Global Media Studies at the University of Colorado. As the founding dean of CU Boulder’s first new college in more than 50 years, Dr. Bergen discussed how the College was organized and has evolved to bring new perspectives to the great challenges of our time.

Dr. Bergen highlighted Faculty-led research projects including the role of storytelling in sustainability, pollution and the climate crisis; “digital legacies” and making plans for your data after you die; and the use of images, videos and deepfakes in U.S. courtrooms. Dr. Bergen also addressed what changes are on the horizon as the college approaches its tenth anniversary.
