Koh Lanta - More Than Just Beaches. A Day Exploring the Island on a Scooter.

Koh Lanta has a good reputation for its beaches and there are a lot of them but what if you get bored of beach life? There is so much to do that doesn't involve sand. I hired a scooter for the day that cost me 200 Bhat.

I then spent the whole day tralvelling around the island taking in a s much as I could as it was my last day. First place was the Islands' Animal Welfare Centre. This was a place where the strays of Koh Lanta are taken in (dogs and cats) and given a better life, with the hope of sending them out for adoption worldwide!

From there I had a trip down to the south of the island towards the National Park where although there are lots to do, like waterfalls caves, an elephant sanctuary, they all cost money which is hard to do when on a budget! But it was good to ride through the roads and the trees and I was lucky enough to see wild monkeys, where I stopped and filmed them.

From there was a trip to the centre of the island and a stop off at the High Point restaurant, where the views of the east coast was amazing!

Once I had finished my coffee and meal, I headed to Lanta Old Town. The oldest place on Koh Lanta. I didn't;t see any hotels or hostels around the area but the amount of tourists, proved it was a popular place to come and visit. Although full of tourist shops, there was still plenty to see and do, including a ship wrecked boat by the shore.

Koh Lanta is an amazing place that deserves to be explored.
