Скачать или смотреть CSX Boston & Albany Line Day Trip (9/7/2013)

With nothing to do that Saturday, I headed to the CSX B&A Line with Mike (6000csx) for a day trip. As usual, we started at West Springfield, MA, first checking out what was in the yard and saw Q012 intermodal going by, then stopped at the usual crossing for Q019 intermodal departing after picking up cars in the yard and autorack train Q264. This time, we checked out a new spot just west of CP 105 in Westfield, MA at the U Haul there, pretty cool spot, as we will return later on in the day. Anyway, first train at Westfield was Q425 mixed freight declared an emergency, I would think the detector at milepost 103.6 may have read a defect. In the end, the crew found nothing out of the ordinary and slowly pulled past to CP 109 (double track becomes single track there) to wait for intermodal Q022.

The next stop was Palmer, MA, where we met up with Sky (skyman2002) for the afternoon. Palmer was the place to be for the usual Amtraks through there, including the westbound Lakeshore Limited and the two Vermonters, one heading south and the other one north. The last train in Palmer was mixed freight Q437.

Finally after parting ways with Sky, we made our way west back to West Springfield for the night. We stopped first at the crossings for the eastbound Lakeshore Limited (sans the sleeping car) and at the U Haul lot in Westfield for mixed freight Q423 (this train also picked up some cars from the West Springfield Yard). Back at the West Springfield crossings, we ended the day with eastbound mixed freight Q426 and intermodal L017, which took quite a bit of time picking up its share of intermodal cars at West Springfield Yard. Not a bad day!
