My friend Marc Rigelsford (Magic Arm) called me up one day asking if I would narrate a poem for a sound piece he was 'curating'. It was to be showcased in Highgreen, Northumberland in June 2022. He lives up that way and was inspired by the storms they had up there during the winter of 2021/2022 and he had the idea to base it around the poem 'Wind' by Ted Hughes, that he wanted me to read and he would 'paint' the music behind and over it.

The poem itself is a masterpiece and examines the destruction of a relationship - or even of one person in a relationship. The idea of a 'safe house' and questions the safety of that. Is the storm outside? And how safe is a small little house anyway? Or is the outside just an illusion and the real problem lies inside? I love this poem a ridiculous amount.

And Marc did such an awesome job of punctuating all the drama inside it with the music. Horror house style low piano runs. And then funeral-esque organs. It was such a great project to work on, I really enjoyed it!

The piece was showcased over a weekend in June in an old Dairy room. Marc dressed the room appropriately and visitors could wander in and listen to the piece in full, complete with the sound of the crackling fire.
