Explore Botanic Gardens & Zoo
The heritage-listed Botanic Gardens are one of Queensland's oldest public gardens, with a fantastic adventure playground. The Zoo is nestled inside the Gardens and is home to over 31 species of Australian and exotic animals, including otters, meerkats, and chimpanzees. Entry is free, and it's open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., seven days a week.

See Views from Mount Archer
Mount Archer is 604 metres above sea level and is the highest peak of the Berserker Ranges. At Fraser Park in the Mount Archer National Park is the Nurim Circuit, a 580-metre elevated tree-top boardwalk that extends 25 metres from Mount Archer with beautiful views over Rockhampton. The park has a nature playground, picnic areas, and walking tracks.

Day Trip to Yeppoon
The lovely seaside town of Yeppoon is located 40 km from Rockhampton. You can spend the day relaxing and enjoying the beaches, swimming in the lagoon, and playing in the Keppel Kracken water park. The town also has a great selection of cafes, restaurants and colourful murals.

Explore Capricorn Caves
Capricorn Caves are limestone caves located 23 kilometres North of Rockhampton. They are one of the largest privately owned cave systems in Australia. The one-hour Cathedral Cave Tour is the most popular tour, showcasing the largest and most spectacular caves.

Great Keppel Island Day Trip
A 30-minute ferry ride from Yeppoon will bring you to the white sandy shores of beautiful Great Keppel Island. Here, you can enjoy bushwalks and stunning beaches, relax, swim, snorkel or kayak on the crystal clear water. There is also a bar and restaurant where you can enjoy a lovely lunch and cold drink at the Great Keppel Hideaway.

Enjoy Kershaw Gardens
The Kershaw Gardens Parklands is a spacious & picturesque subtropical oasis stretching for one kilometre in the middle of Rockhampton. It has a beautiful waterfall, viewing decks, walking trails, fantastic playgrounds, and water play areas. The gardens also have picnic areas, gas BBQs, toilets, and free Wi-Fi.

Discover Heritage Village
The Rockhampton Heritage Village is set on 11.4 hectares of bushland and incorporates a charming township that portrays life in the region from the 1850s to the 1950s. It is open every day from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and has a heritage cafe, farm animals, vintage cars, and many interesting buildings and displays to enjoy.

Rockhampton Museum of Art
The Rockhampton Museum of Art is a spacious, multi-level building at 220 Quay Street. It is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and has a selection of permanent and touring exhibitions that showcase artists and artworks with a deep resonance to Central Queensland.

Eat Beef in the Beef Capital
Rockhampton is known as the Beef Capital of Queensland, as there are currently more than 3 million head of cattle grazing in the region. You will be spoilt for choice with many traditional Rockhampton pubs serving delicious T-Bones, Rump steaks and other specialty beef meals.

Rockhampton Heritage Walk
Rockhampton has many wonderful, elegant buildings that are a remnant of its wealthy merchant, maritime and gold-rush heritage. Many of these buildings are on Quay Street, Queensland’s longest National Trust heritage-listed street. Some of them have information plaques, or you can pick up a brochure from the visitor centre to learn about their fascinating history.
