The ongoing development work for the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Karachi has become a major headache, especially for commuters and residents along the main arteries.

In a serious incident reported today, a major 24-inch diameter water supply line burst right in front of the Civic Centre on the Main University Road. The Water Corporation spokesperson confirmed that the rupture was caused directly by the heavy machinery operating during the Red Line BRT construction.

Massive Water Supply Disruption:

The burst line has forced the Water Corporation to shut down supply from the COD area to begin emergency repair work.

This disruption will severely impact water supply to large parts of Lyari and District South—two densely populated areas of Karachi.

Water Corporation officials have assured that repair work has begun immediately with the aim of restoring the 24-inch line as quickly as possible.
