Chevy Sonic / Cruze 1.4L common problem!! Easy solution

Sorry for the soft sound level (i made this late at night).

With 1.4L Turbo engine

I was hearing an intermittent loud ticking sound from under the valve cover (heavier/louder than the purge solenoid back by the intake manifold).
Sometimes it wouldn’t make a sound as I started and ran the car, other times it was constant.

Torque spec I found for these chain guide bolts was 8 ft.lb.
Due to this being so light off a torque spec I cleaned the threaded holes / bolts and added a very small amount of light/medium strength loctite / thread locker.

If ticking / rattling persists. Beyond this fix, the lower chain guides / tensioner may have begun failing! If that’s the case for your vehicle, get it fixed ASAP before those parts fail completely and destroy your engine.
