We did this step individually.

The first was a progressive basic. We practiced it starting as a back rock. We did this because most shines happen from the back rock.

1 side 2 back 3 in place. We progressed forward 4 &.
Then 1 stepped forward 2 stepped forward 3 stepped in place We progressed back 4 &.

From this point, there are no longer side steps on 1.

Our first shine was a chase.

The step remains the same. However, on the forward rock, we pivot half a turn. We continue the same forward progression, turning a half turn on the forward rock until our partner picks us up.

Final varation

We do a check and pop.

Same back rock. We step forward on 4 with our right leg. Step side rotating half a turn on & we close our feet and change weight on 1.

At this point, you should have the left foot free. We rock forward on 2 and curve back on 3 to face our partner again.

From here, it's the back progressive basic.


Notes: This is a challenging series of steps. Not because of the footwork, but rather because of the focus needed to do something different than a partner or other dancer on the floor.

It's a matter of becoming desensitized to your surroundings. This is a skill based pattern that will take time to master.
