The Balancing Boy is made from all kinds of odd bits – plastic boxes, lids, toothpaste tubes etc. Most of its parts are from throwaway junk. Take a plastic can and insert a long toothpick in its center. Make wire legs and hands. Insert an old toothpaste tube as a neck. Then place a head with a hat. Decorate and color the Balancing Boy with color tape.
A few ring magnets have been stuck to the body to make it heavier below and also for balance.
Below the body there will be the pointed end of the toothpick. Place this on the lid of a heavy bottle filled with water. The Balancing Boy will rest nicely on the lid. On giving it a little twirl it will keep dancing, spinning and rocking for a long time. This toy made from junk will amuse children for a long time. This work was supported by IUCAA and Tata Trust.
