"Heut' stechen wir ins blaue Meer" [Today We Pierce Into the Blue Sea] is a German farewell song from 1936, about a sailor saying goodbye to his love, asking her to wait for his return. The melody at the very beginning is the opening tune from Richard Wagner's "Der fliegende Holländer". Song originally had two strophes, the 1st one was recorded here.

Recorded also by:
1939 Männerchor; Blasorchester; Conductor: Bruno Seidler-Winkler
1939 Die Metropol-Vokalisten; Musikkorps der Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur Berlin-Staaken; Conductor: Hasso Boss

It was also included in medleys "Ruck-zuck - Annemarie" by Herms Niel (1937) and "Wir marschieren mit Herms Niel" by Erich Gutzeit (1942), and it was recorded for the movie "Orkestar jedne mladosti" (1985). This particular recording was played in the background in one of the scenes in the movie "Das Boot" (1981).
