Aeroworks 40% Carbon Cub Maiden Flight: Veteran Pilot Darin Peirce

Описание к видео Aeroworks 40% Carbon Cub Maiden Flight: Veteran Pilot Darin Peirce

Darin helped a long time UVA member and dear friend Charles Campbell build this Aircraft about 13 years ago. He did the original maiden flight on it. Charles flew it only a hand full of times and later sold it to UVA veteran Pilots John Schauble and Steve Carruthers. They enjoyed this aircraft for awhile until it sat in the hangar for about 5-6 years. Darin inquired about purchasing the aircraft from them and he became the new owner. He stripped everything out of it and replaced all the radio gear, wiring, engine, exhaust and fuel system. It now runs on a DA170 engine with Pro-Flow canister exhaust with a tech aero iBec for the ignition. It has all Futaba servos with an A700 on the rudder and Futaba 9711 servos on the ailerons, flaps, and elevators. He used 2 Futaba 3004 sbus receivers with all of this running through a new Powerbox Mercury SR2 with a iGyro satellite gyro system. It has a Falcon 30x13 2-blade prop which provides more power. He has programmed the Aircraft in a crow flight configuration on the ailerons and flaps and also can switch to full span ailerons to help it roll better and faster. He is also using 2 2800mah Thunder Power battery packs to power the ignition and all the radio gear. He is still working on getting this aircraft setup to his satisfaction but he really enjoys working on improving its flight envelope with every flight. It's so amazing that this Aircraft has made lasting friendships and carries a legacy and tradition of what our club stands for. It truly is a sight to see this aircraft take to the skies! Enjoy!
