Let's go through the care of my five favourite houseplants.The String of Pearls, Pilea Peperomioides, Monstera Thai Constellation, Pink Princess Philodendron and the stunning Begonia maculata. Today I am going to cover watering, sunlight, fertilizer, propagation, potting medium and common issues for each plant.

I cover my care for the:
String of Pearls Variegated AKA Senecio rowleyanus or the abbreviation SOP. The String of Pearls needs its soil to dry out completely between waterings, with bottom watering preferred to prevent root rot. It thrives in bright sunlight and a well-draining cactus mix. Shriveled pearls usually indicate a watering issue, either too little or, more often, too much, which leads to root rot.
Pilea peperomioides AKA the Chinese money plant, UFO plant, pancake plant, friendship plant & missionary plant. The Pilea Peperomioides should be watered when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. It prefers bright, indirect light and a well-draining potting mix. Yellowing leaves are a common sign of overwatering.
Philodendron Pink Princess AKA Philodendron erubescens 'pink princess', Pink Princess, Blushing Philodendron, or the abbreviation PPP and Monstera Thai Constellation AKA Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' or the abbreviation MTC.Thai Constellation and Pink Princess share similar care needs. Both require bright light to maintain their variegation but should be protected from direct sun. They prefer a chunky, well-aerated soil mix and need to be watered when the top few inches of soil are dry. Browning on the variegated parts of the leaves is often caused by low sunlight.
Finally Begonia Maculata Wightii AKA the Polka dot Begonia, Spotted Begonia & Angel Wing. The Begonia Maculata is a thirsty plant that benefits from frequent watering and misting. It thrives in bright, indirect light and a slightly acidic soil mix. Crispy leaves often signal underwatering or low humidity, while yellowing leaves are a classic sign of overwatering.
