The Grand Hotel Eastbourne

The video shows the Grand Hotel Eastbourne which dominates the western promenade. Built in 1875 it was also called the White Palace. With lavish interior and elaborate exterior. This hotel has the grandeur of the Victorian and Edwardian eras and has played host to royalty, and the rich and famous. Delightful concerts were staged so familiar to radio listeners on Sunday evenings durring the years 1924 - 1939. The forty foot high ceilings with balconies on the first and second floor with fluted fillers and columns provide fine acoustic properties for todays performances. Shelly Ven Lien and the Palm Court Strings can still be heard in the Great Hall. The Video also shows the Queens Jubilee a few years and good food at the Hotel. The Grand hotel is part of the Elite Hotels. It is understood that the Grand is the only 5 star hotel seaside hotel in England.
