I came to the studio with the title “Pieces,” with the idea always being about how to move forward and navigate life after some kind of profound change. I didn't want it to be specific to only me, and I really wanted it to be a positive anthem. So “Pieces” is really about how people have a tendency of holding on to what is no longer there instead of pushing forward into their future. So, it's really just a song about trying to help people realize that it's okay to keep moving forward. There are a lot of good things that are still to come.
