Restringing a Slotted Headstock - update on older versions - and things that can go wrong!

Hi, Here is my updated restring method.
Why do I measure the point of cutting ?
To give a nice tidy, consistent number of turns on the capstan - about :
6th - 2.5" (2-3 turns), 5th -3" (3-4 turns) 4th - 3.5" (4-5 turns) then 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings (4-5 turns).
This results in the strings running cleanly over the nut, and staying separate.

Why did the 6th string pin come loose? This is what the bend in the string is supposed to avoid - I have since filed the edges of the pin slot ends to stop them catching on the string barrel

NOTE: I have since realised that this is far more common when pins are slotted and not the bridge. I intend to slot the bridges and replace the pins on my Eastmans.
Most of my flat tops have unslotted pins which I believe is a better option.
