Growing Castor Oil Plants From Seed (With Time Lapse)

In this video I sow castor oil plant (Ricinus communis) seeds, which will become large shrubs for my jungle style garden. These plants are not hardy and so must be grown as annuals in Scotland, however because they grow so fast they can grow into large plants by late summer. I am sowing my plants in winter to get them to a good size before planting in June because in my cool summers they won't grow as quickly as they would in warmer climates. As the seeds are so large they have a lot of energy for rapid growth from an early age and after just one month I already have surprisingly big plants. Castor oil plants are very poisonous, especially the seeds and so should be handled with the necessary precautions.
