Achumbemo Kikon is the former President of the Naga Students' Federation, the apex body of all Nagas. He has fought for Naga issues in different capacities, he finally decided to join politics which led him to contest the Nagaland Assembly Election in 2008 from Bhandari constituency in Wokha. He flunked, then contested again in 2014, and 2019 but again flunked in a row. However, his triumph came in the 2023 election. He is now a member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and has been vocal about the resolution of the Naga political issue as a facilitator for a better and peaceful future for the Nagas.
