How Japan's Imperial Family Rose to Power | History of Japan 10

The Yamato were one clan out of many in ancient Japan. Through military might and political cunning, they arose to become Japan's Imperial Family. They founded a dynasty that would last until the present day.

This is also the beginning of the Kofun Period, where people built massive mound tombs for their dead leaders. These tombs were hundreds of meters long and required enormous manpower and years to build. The Yamato clan built a special type of kofun that other clans emulated.
