Penny the Penguin Maid’s Magical Mess
A short story based on a puzzle from artpuzzleworld.com
In the grand, sunlit manor of Lady Primrose, there lived an extraordinary little maid—Penny the Penguin. Unlike the other staff, Penny wasn’t just hardworking; she had a secret talent. With a flick of her feathered wing, she could make dust vanish, beds tuck themselves, and chandeliers shine like the stars. But Penny never used her magic unless absolutely necessary—after all, a good maid should know the value of honest work!
One morning, Lady Primrose prepared for an important guest: the Duchess of Everwinter. The manor had to be spotless, and Penny was determined to make it shine! With her little broom and apron tied neatly around her, she waddled from room to room, dusting and polishing with care.
Everything was going perfectly… until the mischievous housecat, Whiskers, struck.
Whiskers, who found great amusement in knocking things over, leaped onto a side table, sending a vase crashing to the floor! Shards of porcelain flew everywhere, and Penny’s heart nearly stopped. The Duchess would arrive in minutes—there wasn’t enough time to fix this the normal way!
Taking a deep breath, Penny whispered an ancient cleaning spell passed down by the elder penguins of her homeland. The pieces of the vase shimmered and lifted into the air, twirling gracefully as they pieced themselves back together. The spilled water vanished, the bouquet of roses stood tall once more, and even the floor shone as if freshly polished!
Just as she finished, the grand doors swung open. The Duchess of Everwinter stepped inside, her sharp eyes scanning the room.
“My, what a flawlessly kept home,” she remarked, nodding in approval. Lady Primrose beamed with pride, completely unaware of Penny’s secret intervention.
As the guests sipped tea and chatted, Penny returned to her cleaning, hiding a small, knowing smile.
Because a true maid never leaves a mess behind… even if a little magic helps along the way.
✨ The End. ✨
