What is the Gubber Guard? Rubber Guard with the Gi, of course. I started playing with this guard several years ago, and then saw Keenan Cornelius using the same position (much better than myself) in competition a couple years later. It is deceptively strong, controlling and offers a lot of submission options - way more than I have included in this video.

I have started calling this the Esparza Guard as well, since my friend Raf Esparza seemed to be the one to coin the term first. Check out Raf at the Verbal Tap Podcast www.verbaltapcast.com.
