Wrestling Bios Presents - The Career of Rick Martel

You may know him from his time as the AWA Heavyweight Champion, you may recall his time in the Cam-Am connection, perhaps you preferred when he teamed with Tito Santana to create The Strike Force, or perhaps you remember him as "The Model". Whatever the case may be, Rick Martel is one of wrestling's unsung legends. Rick Martel was an incredibly talented professional wrestler who, without a doubt, had a career thats more than worthy of a Hall of Fame induction.

Rick Martel began his career in Quebec before finding working all around the world. He dreamed of making it in America, and when he got the oppurtunity, Rick Martel found himself in the WWF, teaming up with Tony Garea to win the Tag Team Championships. He left the World Wrestling Federation to join the AWA, and in just 2 years, he captured the AWA Heavyweight Championship and went on to hold the title for around 19 months. During his reign, Martel was able to work with the likes of Nick Bockwinkle and Ric Flair.

Most people will remember Martel's second run in the WWF. It was during this run that Martel was part of the tag teams "The Cam-Am Connection" and "Strike Force". When Rick Martel turned heel, he became "The Model" Rick Martel, and along with his very own "Arrogance" cologne, Rick Martel went on to become a very entertaining wrestling bad guy.
