BNVD 1531 Night Vision Goggle

Описание к видео BNVD 1531 Night Vision Goggle

***CORRECTION: In the video I said the MK1 Mohawk for the CWB battery pack but I meant to say MK3!

The L3Harris BNVD1531 is essentially a less expensive and slightly heavier BNVD-31A (AN/PVS-31A) with adjustable diopters.

It's important to know that "BNVD" is an acronym for "Binocular Night Vision Device" and is currently used by several different companies to describe their version of a night vision binocular. This confuses A LOT of people because they wrongfully assume that BNVD refers to a specific goggle.

When the acronym BNVD was originally used, it was L3's submission to the DOD for a replacement for the AN/PVS-15 called the "BNVD". L3 won the contract and the BNVD went on to become more well known by it's military designation the AN/PVS-31. So, technically, the original acronym BNVD referred to the L3

It comes with L3Harris Unfilmed White Phosphor image tubes and you can select the minimum FOM of 1792+ or 2376+. The FOM (Figure of Merit) is a calculation of center resolution multiplied by signal to noise ratio. FOM isn't the be all end all but it's a indicator of a tube's performance and 2376+ is going to be a higher performing goggle than 1792+ however 1792+ is just a minimum and all of the tubes they put in these are excellent.

Full disclosure: I am TNVC staff and this device belongs to TNVC. While I made this video to share information about it while I had it for testing & evaluation purposes.
