Wobbegong facts: the CARPET SHARK 🦈 Animal Fact Files

Wobbegong sharks are carpet sharks like the whale shark. There are currently twelve classified species in the wobbegong shark family. They also remain motionless in the same spot throughout the year if they find a certain spot they really like. They look like they have holes in their heads - because they do! These are spiracles and are used for breathing.

Scientific Name: Family - Orectolobidae
Range: warm, marine coasts of the West Pacific and Indian oceans
Size: four feet (1.22m) to over ten feet (3.05m)
Diet: other sharks, smaller fish, lobsters, crabs, and octopuses
Lifespan: unknown
