Saving a Yucca plant with extensive trunk rot

Описание к видео Saving a Yucca plant with extensive trunk rot

This video documents my efforts for saving a Yucca plant with extensive trunk rot, that I found back in January of 2021.

I'm always keeping an eye out for abandoned plants during spring and autumn when people put out vegetable waste resulting from cleaning their garden or house plants. As a result, I found another Yucca plant just a month after I found my first one.

Like my first Yucca, this second one is also a Yucca elephantipes (Yucca gigantea), also known as the Spineless yucca, for the obvious reasons. The new find was in a worse shape and had all the signs of a dying Yucca. Nevertheless, I decided to take it home and try saving it as I couldn't bring myself to see the Yucca plant dying and I thought it could make a great Yucca bonsai. To do so I had to deal with extensive damage from Yucca trunk rot which has set in due to prolonged exposure to humidity and low temperatures. In this video I'm showing the steps I took for treating yucca rot while trying to explain what is yucca trunk rot and why it is not that different from yucca root rot.

I hope all the information is useful to anyone is struggling with saving a dying yucca plant.
