The United States ranks second in the world in carbon emissions and fourth in greenhouse gas emissions related to diet. Moreover, malnutrition (both obesity and undernutrition) and climate change can be described as a global syndemic – three pandemics that affect most people worldwide – because of their interactions, adverse effects on each other, and common underlying factors they have on social and economic health.

This presentation from February 22, 2023, explores the impact of climate change on food access and nutrition and discusses individual and policy-focused recommendations to address these intersecting threats to public health.

This program is part of the Climate Change and Health Series. A collaboration among the Maxwell & Eleanor Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, the MGH Center for the Environment and Health, and the MGH Institute of Health Professions Center for Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Health.
