We all have some great memories associated with Eid. Whether it is asking our Mamu Jaan for some extra Eidi than what he had given or looking forward to meeting our loved ones and indulging in some good-hearted family gossip. However, in this lockdown, while we all are maintaining social distance, Eid seems to have become a little more of a private affair than a social affair as it was earlier. So we decided to get in touch with Huma Qureshi and find out what is it that she reminisces the most.

Turns out, like the rest of us, Huma’s most prominent childhood memory is that of asking for Eidi. She would wait for her father to finish reading namaz of Eid before asking for Eidi, adorbs right? She also talks about eagerly waiting for the new clothes that she would get during Eid.

Eid is one festival where you reconnect with your loved ones and have good food! Huma recollects her childhood days when her mother would be cooking food all day and how all family, friends, and neighbours would stop by to wish them, “Just this whole atmosphere used to be so energized.”

While this year is going to be different for a lot of people due to the countrywide lockdown, Huma has a message for all of us who might be tempted to meet our dear loved ones. She says, “The important thing this year is to retain the spirit of Eid. So please be kind to each other, be loving, share whatever you have: a laugh, a smile, some sheer korma.” Watch the video to see her full message to all.
