Mina has made her choice and gives Jonathan back the ring. She chooses to live her life as a vampire by Dracula's side. However she asks Jonathan once she becomes the undead to please end her life if she ever is about to harm him.

Jonathan does not want to end his beloved's life even if she does become a vampire. But he gave her his word, and he cannot break it.
