Lahore Jan 1991- A clip 25 years old.... Ustad Faryad Hussain Khan aka Bhulli Khan accompanying the talented Faheem Mazhar in a mehfil in Lahore. Ustad Bhulli Khan was amongst the most taiyyar tabla players from the Punjab Gharana. After a brief period of training under his maternal uncle Ustad Saeen Jalal Hussain, he became a disciple of Ustad Ghulam Hussain Khan of Jullandhar, who was a disciple of Ustad Mian Qadir Bukhsh. Bhulli Khan's claim to fame was the prowess over the 'Na Dhin Dhin Na' and 'Dhire Dhire' strokes. In addition, he propagated the ' Dus Ungliyon Ka Tabla' created by his mentor. A versatile tabla player, Ustad ji was able to adjust to the different facets of tabla playing from solo to providing accompaniment to light mujra to pure classical. Ustad passed away on 3rd January 2004..

In this clip, he accompanies Faheem bhai to Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khansaheb's masterpiece thumri 'Naina More Taras Gaye'. A few words on Faheem Mazhar saheb, an extremely talented and articulate musician who hails from a non-hereditary musician family. It is a testament to his talent and hardwork, he is today considered amongst Pakistan's knowledgeable musicians, and negates the claims of many Pakistani students of music that gharanedaar musicians do not teach music openly. Well, they do, but one needs talent, persistence and hardwork shown by Faheem saheb to achieve a certain required.
