NOTE at 25:23 I go to turn down the volume from 108 dB and I turn it up accidentally taking it to like 111dB It is nuts listen to the subs ready to bazooka right out of the cab... but still no distortion, perhaps they could keep on like that.. so anyways my reaction is Good Humor.
Many have asked recently so here I will break down the Reference rig I use for listening as well as testing and developing product for the HiFi market. This is 20 years in the making . So imagine 20 years of buying, selling, adding a little cash and hoisting it up a level,. Ive learned a lot in those 20 years, at the same time I am a cable designer and manufacturer, so Ive got many years exhibiting at trade shows and setting up hundreds of systems in every different room type you can think of. So now I am at your service to shorten your whole trip getting to the "sonic nirvana "you hear about . I can do this for as little as $5K by suggesting what used gear to buy all the way to handling the whole rig project from nothing to world class in one swoop where I come out to your location and set up and dial the rig in for you . The purpose for this channel is to give you some insight into the industry from a skeptical slightly jaded insider view. I also compare many things so you can hear how they differ form one another. I realize you can not tell how something will sound in your home from a dead start here, but if you have had ort heard some of the comparable products you will get a good idea. From time to time I will play LOUD. Its not because this is how I listen , it is the only way I am able to prove the quality and operational prowess of my rig. I hold out a Db meter so you can see what SPL we are at and you can then witness a system that holds together under very strong conditions. You can hear that there is little to no distortion at 100dB which is a feat in itself. So please realize that is why I do what I do re volume. Finally I sell some limited products that are the best I can find at that price point. So heres the breakdown

AC Power:
Dedicated feed from meter to a second breaker box in my listening rig just for the system. 4 Earth ground rods just outside the front wall made from 3/4 " solid 101 alloy HCOF Copper with silver plating, 2 for digital 2 for analog one each for signal ground,. one each for safety ground. I have off the panel 4 -240 V dedicated runs for up to 4 mono amplifiers. then 3 separate home run 20 A 120V circuits to the front wall. This feeds 2 Puritan Audio 156 non limiting line filters, one for analog one for digital.

Front end
for Digital its my own linux box server build using the Jcat USB output card and the JCAT LPSU to power it I use mostly ROON and dont care about MQA. so server Playback Designs Stream IF which is a digital interface that reclocks my USB and converts it to a proprietary PBD Protocol that outputs via Glass fiber optic. This can not Pick up any normal magnetic interference because its light and glass, not wire. It goes from there up to my DAC - Playback Designs MPD-8 Dream DAC

For analog I have 2 reel to reel tape decks a Studer A80 and an Otari MX5050Mk3 both 1/4" 15 and 30 ips out of the Otari we go to a Dangerous Music BAX EQ which is an Analog equalizer.. From there either DAC or tape feed an e11even stereophonic discreet fully differential analog filter stage (active crossover) this in turn feeds GR Research servo plate amps for the twin sub towers, each one is a triple 12 inch servo sub tower in an H frame. The rest of the crossover feeds a pair of Jeff Rowland 625S2 amps which cover the woofer panel and mid , and then there's a pair of AGD Production Vivace monoblocs powering my tweets and super tweets. The main speakers are Analysis Audio Amphitryon Loudspeakers which are 7 foot tall 200LB Planar Magnetic speakers, Ive customized them by adding a 60 inch Magnepan ribbon tweeter on each channel and a pai r of Townshend Audio supertweeters up top .

Tweaks are a Fidelizer Audiophile Lan Switch
High end Novum PVM Mk 2 resonating bronze disc, Shakti Audio Stones on my power supplies, Shakti audio Hallagraphs behind the speakers which are sound reflectors to broaden vocal center image and a pair of ASC Tube traps as well as some Big John custom over the window acoustic absorbers . All the cabling is Verastarr high purity silver foil .
