Carlsbad's Windsor Pointe homeless facility does not serve the community nor tenants well. After two years of broken, non-committal promises for improvement and almost 800 expensive Windsor Pointe first responder intervention needs, the community is calling for the facility's movement or closure. This is a pilot program putting homeless experiencing serious mental illness in a family neighborhood that has failed and we need to take action before someone (else) gets hurt. This facility was literally placed across the street from little girls and the City continues to drag its feet to undo it. Even former Mayor Matt Hall is calling for closure, saying that voting for it was the worst decision he made as Mayor. The State has horrible mandates in place but is NOT to blame for this location placement. An alternate, single, centralized location is needed that can enable a single, secure entrance away from families.
