The Pap test is a screening test done for the cancer cervix . This video explains why and how the test is done . it can improve the detection rate of cervical cancer at very early stage and providing treatment at this stage can save many lives of women who are dying because of rhis cancer . This test can be done as a normal health screening procedure of females.
This test is not painful and recommended for all women of age 21 and above . This test can be combined with HPV test which is called as Co-testing . From 30 yr of age you can opt for co-testing also and co-testing can be repeat after every 5 yr till the age of 65 yr . After 65 yr if all your previous pap smesr reports are normal then no further need of testing. If test report is abnormal please consult your gynecologist for further information.
