Today I got to I try out some of Holbrook's newest paddles including the Aero Metallic, Kevlar, Square, as well as the older Pro Power model.

I was doing some serve tests with the metallic one yesterday and it was absolutely ripping balls with its insanely gritty surface... I wanted to see how I liked them in an in-game setting.

If I had to rank them in my personal preference so far, it would be:

1. Metallic
2. Pro Power
3. Kevlar
4. Square "S"

The Pro Power seemed the most familiar to me since I've been playing with the joola mod ta-15 and it was an easy transition from that paddle. Great spin, nice power, good control-- but not quite as "springy" as the joola.

The grit on the Metallic was just really fun to play and spin the ball like crazy.

Kevlar played a bit softer and had good control, but I didn't like how the grit actually felt less than the traditional raw carbon fiber surface.

I thought the Square one I would like alot, but the handle being a square shaped really threw me off. Sweet spot is great and very forgiving as most wide body paddles are, but it just wasn't something I was used to on the spot.

With each of them, I definitely would add some weighted tape to the throat to increase twist weight and get them up to about 8.3-8.5oz which is my preference these days.
