This video features David Driver, Lawrence Shultz and August Hunicke..

These three men have put in a combined effort that has forever changed the tree care industry. It was a pleasure to meet and get to know them and also watch them work.

Got some decent video too. I particularly like the opening shot
This video was private for the last decade, and I honestly forgot about it.
This is just a few shots from tape 1 (of 2) .

I learned something from this one... very cool.. look at the first slow motion shot.... notice the point of impact, goes off screen for just a minute, but you ca see the torn bark on the padding log. I put that padding log in place, and AM pretty sure that this piece would have hit the curb to if it wasn;t there.. So what can we learn..
Looks to me like David was right... if the piece was cut shorter it would have cleared.. However he already knew that so that;s just confirmation. Looks like the piece was tied off at its base, which caused it to rotate as it came down the speedline. the rotation actually pushed the top back towards the curb. I wonder if the speeline was tied up near the center of balance if it would make a difference here. I think it would .. only way to tell for sure would be to run that scenario and watch it in slow motion..

The angle of the line was also a major factor. IMO , much more important that the tautness. There are ways to change that as well, though having the piece jump into the block is a valid concern.

Anyhow cool piece of video.

.Also my mentor John Grier talks about the sling on negative rigging sliding down into your lines below and shows a picture of his pants getting ripped after being caught by the loving sling.
Take that under advisement, especially in spring, when the bark is loose and working with tulip etc..
