The legendary Jushin Liger and Tiger Mask are brought to the WWE for one final run, Jushin Liger is considered to be the greatest junior heavyweight in New Japans Pro Wrestling history having faced many former WWE and WCW wrestlers from Jericho to Mysterio to the Machon Man. Liger was an ambassador of Japans wrestling school in the US and now he returns to once again present the best that Japan has to offer to the US. Ligers mission is simple to bring back dignity to the cruiserweight class. In his mission he is joined by the iconic Tiger Mask.

It is the first game published by 2K Sports since Take-Two gained the license from THQ in a bankruptcy filing. It is the sequel to WWE '13 and the first game in the WWE 2K series. It was released on October 29, 2013 in North America on November 1 in Europe and Japan on October 30, 2013
