Pacific Lamprey training video 2: Incorporating Lampreys into in water work projects

Описание к видео Pacific Lamprey training video 2: Incorporating Lampreys into in water work projects

In this presentation USFWS and WDFW lamprey biologist, Monica Blanchard, presents a detailed presentation on lamprey considerations for projects with in-water work. This training covers how to determine if a structure is a passage barrier for migrating lamprey, methods of retrofitting barriers structures to allow lamprey passage, the limiting factors for lamprey recovery, and impacts of dredging on lamprey. Then Monica gives an overview of lamprey projects considerations from structure retrofits, to best practices with fish salvage and de-waring methods.

Additionally, the entire Pacific Lamprey series should contain the disclaimer:
These videos are based on best available science recommendations as of Summer 2024. However, research into lamprey biology and ecology is advancing quickly, and methods to reduce impacts to lampreys during in-water projects are likely to be updated based on new studies. Please see the Pacific Lamprey Conservation Initiative’s website (www.pacificlamprey.org) for updated best management guidelines or contact Monica Blanchard ([email protected]), at WDFW
