Video files (taken from a single location) can be imported into PhotoModeler and used to take measurements and estimate speeds. A wide variety of video formats and codecs are support (.mp4, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, etc.). Surface points or imported Point Clouds can be tracked and have their 3D positions established at various time frames to establish distances and speeds. The video can be played as a background in a standard photo window, broken down into i-frames (p-frames or b-frames), and key frames can be bookmarked. The video file can be aligned with a laser or lidar scan and/or scans of a vehicle can be aligned with each video time period. Lens distortion effects such as fisheye or barrel distortion can be computed and accounted for.

Video can come from any fixed or static location such as a security or surveillance camera, a parked or stopped dash camera, etc. These video files can be used as evidence and for accident reconstruction and car crash analysis or other forensic work.
