Re-Entry Success at Bon Secours Community Works

Part of Bon Secours Community Works, Re-Entry Success is a 12-week training course for formerly incarcerated persons that addresses the challenges of reintegration and teaches an array of life skills in a positive, collaborative environment. Using the evidenced-based Tyro model created by The Ridge Project in Ohio and currently being utilized in many states, Re-Entry Success emphasizes character building to ensure participants are ready to fully integrate back into society.

The program teaches participants the skills they will need to succeed outside of prison and coping mechanisms to deal with the stigma that often follows them through life. They also are taught to think positively about themselves despite their past, identifying as "returning citizens" rather than ex-offenders. The group leaders are returning citizens themselves who understand the struggles faced by those leaving the prison system after many years.
