From August 15, a new FASTag Annual Pass will be starting across India.
What is an annual pass ? How does it work ? Let me explain.
FASTag was first introduced in 2019 at toll plazas and became mandatory in 2021.
This helped reduce long waiting times, arguments with staff, and problems with small change.
Now, the government is adding a new option for frequent travellers.
To make travel easier and save money, the Central Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a new plan.
It was announced in June that an annual pass system will be launched.
From Independence Day, you can get a FASTag Annual Pass for ₹3,000.
With this pass, you can cross toll plazas 200 times in a year or use it for 12 months whichever comes first.
To buy it, use the ‘Rajmarg Yatra’ app or visit the NHAI/MoRTH website.
Enter your vehicle number and FASTag ID details, then pay ₹3,000 via UPI.
After payment, you will get a confirmation SMS, and the pass will be linked to your FASTag.
This scheme is available only for private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans.
Not for trucks or commercial vehicles like cab and van.
Once your annual pass ends, it will not auto-renew—you must apply again.
Officials say this will be very helpful for people who travel often on highways, as it can save both time and money at toll booths.
