Soul Coughing - Super Bon Bon - drum cover

Disclaimer - this vid will probably sound a lot better through headphones or if you are running your computer through your TV (as I do).

I'm now on camera position 497 since I started recording again a few days ago. Not really, but it feels that way! I've tried at least a dozen or so different spots and have been happy with none of them, lol.

EDIT: eventually I found a solution that allowed me to record "most" songs without sounding like garbage,

For the drummers, the China I'm using is a 16 inch Paiste 2000 Mellow China. I picked it up used at a great price. I love Paiste, it's all that I play. I love their consistency, and they seem to match well.

Most of my cymbals are a B8 blend (Alphas, 2002s, Dimensions), but the Signature types that I have seem to work well with them. My ride is a 22 inch Dimensions medium that, once I heard it, made my cymbal set up complete. I could ride it, it had a great ping, I could wash it, I could crash it, I could ride the bell. It was all great. I picked it up used at a great price. I picked up a second one used too. The second one didn't sound quite as great to my ear, but it was very close. The first one, the one I love, may have been "played in" a little before it had gotten into my hands.

More or less, I'm a huge fan of the 22 inch Paiste Dimensions medium ride. To me, it's a cymbal that can do anything I ask it to do. I don't think it was a very common cymbal, it was basically a 2002 cymbal with a Signature treatment. I'm super happy that I was able to pick it up at a reasonable price and fell in love with it! It's a gem that I'm grateful to be able to play. I'm sure I have other recordings that showcase the sound better than this one.

Note: Soul Coughing is darn tough to record because the background music is so bass-heavy.
