Looking back at my year in art I discovered that most of what I did was in my journals. Circumstances influence art, and having the world shut down around us caused my art to go smaller, more manageable.

I did a ton of mixed media work in my art journals. Painting, oil pastels and collage. I journaled for myself, and I journaled to create classes for my Thursday evening group, as well as my Artist's Way classes. And, of course, I journaled with my students. How many journal pages did I complete? I have no idea, but I'd guess it has to be over 100.

Here is what I love about documenting my work (in this case in my database in the video above): I love being able to see a lot of my work in one place. Very often we look at one or even a few of our paintings, and we don't see the similarity - we don't see the big picture.
And, we don't feel like we're building a body of work. But being able to see the art all together on one page, I can see my hand in each piece. I can see the similarity in colors, rhythm, in the choices I made.

Yes, I built a body of work in 2020 through art journaling.
