The Rise of UTSA Football

There is no secret that football is important to the state of Texas, and every convincing win or close loss is felt that much more throughout any program or franchise in the state. While recently the expectations and attention has been on programs such as Texas, Texa A&M, Baylor, and recently TCU, it has been San Antonio’s own UTSA Roadrunners that have been one of the more consistent teams in all of College Football. UTSA’s football program is one of the youngest in the FBS, where it began play in 2011. Since the start of the 2021 season, the Roadrunners have won 23 games, captured two conference titles, and are on their way to the American Athletic Conference led by Head Coach Jeff Traylor, who signed a massive long term extension with the team last year. Their recent rise has been one of the more surprising turnarounds in Group of 5 Football, and in today’s video, we’ll be looking at the Rise of UTSA Football, examining how they got this far, and looking at what could be next for the program.
