Описание к видео Omobola Osamor – Searching for the Gap / Following the Ancestor’s Map to Freedom / Home is

Omobola Osamor reads "Searching for the Gap", "Following the Ancestor’s Map to Freedom" and "Home is", three of her poems featured in "Japa Fire: An Anthology of Poems on African and African Diasporic Migration" (CivicLeicester, 2024).[1] Omobola gave the reading on 17 October 2024 at an online event hosted by CivicLeicester, Regularise and Forced Migration and The Arts as part of the Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology readings and conversations series.[2]

ABOUT THE POET

Omobola Osamor’s poetry examines the intersection of relationships—both human and institutional—and the emotions that arise from failures and successes. Her work, which includes poetry and fiction, has been featured in a range of publications, including Brittle Paper, African Writer, The Shallow Tales Review, and Flash Fiction Magazine. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, she currently lives in Chicago.

ABOUT THE POETRY ANTHOLOGY SERIES

The Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology Series is a multi-year, multi-volume initiative that is publishing poetry collections on exploring themes around African and African diasporic migration and (im)mobility. The series was inspired by the "Africa Migration Report: 2nd Edition" published by the African Union and International Organisation for Migration in March 2024.[3]

Our call for submissions[4] is open 365 days a year because every day is Africa Day and because we would like to keep the conversation going for as long as it takes for the African migrant to be treated with dignity and respect on the continent and around the world.
