Makkah, also known as Mecca, is a city in Saudi Arabia considered the holiest city in Islam. It is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the site of the Kaaba, a central element of the Islamic pilgrimage known as Hajj, which every Muslim is required to perform at least once in their lifetime if able. The Kaaba is located within the Masjid al-Haram, the largest mosque in the world. Makkah is also a major center of Islamic scholarship and culture. Its significance draws millions of Muslims from around the world each year.


Umrah is a pilgrimage to Makkah that can be undertaken at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which has specific dates. It involves several key rituals:

Ihram: Entering a state of spiritual purity and wearing specific garments (two white seamless cloths for men, and modest clothing for women).
Tawaf: Circumambulating the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sa’i: Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
Shaving/Cutting Hair: Men typically shave their heads or trim their hair, while women cut a small portion of their hair.
