Tecsun PL-660 Frequency Offset Calibration

Описание к видео Tecsun PL-660 Frequency Offset Calibration

This video demonstrates how to recalibrate the Tecsun PL-660, if it is reading the wrong frequency when tuned on-station. ** Update 2/4/2018: My technical contact confirmed that only very recent versions of the PL-660 can be calibrated in this way, so apologies for getting your hopes up if you have an older version where this does not work. That said, I find it outstanding that Tecsun is listening to feedback and is continually improving their radios, even for a model that has been around as long as the PL-660 has... **

I received my PL-660 radio in mid-January 2018, and like many others have experienced, the wide bandwidth shortwave calibration is off, reading 5 kHz too low when on-station. On the other hand, the shortwave narrow bandwidth was spot-on, as were AM, FM and Air-band.

The PL-660 can be recalibrated independently on AM, FM, SW wide-bandwidth and SW narrow-bandwidth settings, something I have not seen demonstrated anywhere else. It does not appear that Air-band can be recalibrated, although I've not heard of anyone having a problem there either.

As you'll see in the video, one can effectively recalibrate the PL-660 so that on-station frequencies read accurately, so if your radio is off, there's no need to send it back; just recalibrate it yourself! What I don't now, is if all PL-660 radios can be calibrated like this, or if only more recent versions have this capability?

Eventually, I will also publish some videos about my Eton 'Grundig Edition' Satellit radio, as well as my C.Crane CC Skywave SSB radio.
